Luxury Soul Weekender '10
 

Date: Friday 8th - Sunday 10th January 10

 

Location: Hilton, North Promenade, Blackpool, Lancashire

 

The Luxury Soul Weekender takes place at Blackpool Hilton on the North Promenade from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th January 2010.

 

The line-up features Chapter 8 (An exclusive reunion featuring Michael J. Powell, Valerie Pinkston, Gerald Lyles, Vernon D. Fails and Courtlen Hale on Saturday Night), + 20 DJs.

Hope & Future Festival '10
 

Date: Wednesday 20th - Saturday 23rd January 10

 

Location: Stag's Head, Dalston, London

 

Hope & Future Festival is a four-day mini-festival held at London's Stag's Head, Dalston, from Wednesday 20th to Saturday 23rd January 2010 and hosted by Good Shoes and friends.

 

The mini-festival will offer gigs each evening for the over 18's, while on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday matinee shows at 4.30pm will be put on for the younger (14-18) fans.

Outside-In Festival '10
 

Date: Saturday 30th January 10

 

Location: The Sage St Mary's Square, Gateshead Quays Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne

 

Outside-In Festival is organised by The Sage Gateshead and Channel 4 and takes place on Saturday 30th January 2010 at The Sage, Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne. The one day event offers a mix live music and a beach party for 3000 people.

The line-up over multiple stages includes Sugababes, Pixie Lott, N-Dubz, Taio Cruz, Alphabeat, Erik Hassle, The Courteeners, Lostprophets, Example, Marina & The Diamonds, Fugitive, and H-Boogie.

Bonecrusher Festival '10
 

Date: Monday 1st - Tuesday 2nd February 10

 

Location: O2 Academy in Bristol and Rios in Leeds

 

Bonecrusher Festival is held from 5pm on Monday 1st February and Tuesday 2nd February 2010. The first night takes place at the O2 Academy, in Bristol and the second night at Rios in Leeds.

 

The line-up at both evenings features the Black Dahlia Murder, with 3 Inches Of Blood, Necrophobic, Obscura, The Faceless, Carnifex, and Ingested.

Next Big Thing Festival '10
 

Date: Friday 5th - Sunday 14th February 10

 

Location: Various venues in London

 

Next Big Thing Festival is an annual festival from HMV and MAMA Group. The festival offers a platform for a new generation to showcase and celebrates breakthrough artists drawn from across the music spectrum in the UK and internationally to play at some of London's historic live music venues.

 

The inaugural Next Big Thing will run between Friday 5th and Sunday 14th February 2010. It will be hosted by HMV/MAMA owned venues in London, including the Borderline, Heaven and the Relentless Garage, and will feature up to 50 artists representing different genres, from singer-songwriters and indie-rock bands to urban and pop through to crossover classical talent.

Over twenty artists are already confirmed, and more will be added to the bill progressively over the coming days. Acts include Ellie Goulding, Marina and the Diamonds, Mystery Jets, Two Door Cinema Club, Little Comets, Rox, Eliza Doolittle, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Lights, You Me At Six, Young Guns, This City, Sweet Billy Pilgrim, The Soft Pack, Tinie Tempah, Jesca Hoop, Lissie, Cate Le Bon, Hamel, Leddra Chapman, Hadouken!, Unicorn Kid, The Slow Club, The Low Anthem, The Wave Pictures, Johnny Flynn, Paloma Faith, Ian King, Example, Cosmo Jarvis, The Miserable Rich, Plastiscines, Chew Lips, Alex Gardner, First Aid Kit, Jersey Budd, Band Of Skulls, Polly Mackey & The Pleasure Principles, and Joshua Radin.

 
Venues

Six London venues will host this live event: the Borderline, the Camden Barfly, Heaven, the Jazz Café, the Relentless Garage and ULU. However, more dates and venues may be added as the number of confirmed artists grows.

Scottfest '10
 

Date: Saturday 6th February 10

 

Location: Satans Hollow, Manchester

 

Scottfest is a mini all-dayer music festival based in Manchester, held twice a year at Satans Hollow in Manchester. Scottfest 2010 Ver 1.0 takes place on Saturday 6th February 2010.

 

This will be the fourth time the event is held at Satans Hollow.

The line-up for 2010 will be Acid Drop, Madigras Bombers, Push The Ghost, Ever The Joker, The Kirkz, Big Ed & The Stink, The Distrakted, The Emo's, I Am Three, and Glue Ear.

Gateway International Roots Music Festival '10

 

Date: Thursday 4th - Saturday 20th March 10

 

Location: Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, Cumbria

 

Offering reggae, traditional and contemporary folk, African, dancehall, and dub, The Gateway International Roots Music Festival takes place from Thurday 4th until Saturday 20th March and offers an eclectic mix of acts from the roots music scene. Nestled on the edge of the Lake District, Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre plays host to nearly three weeks of gigs from performers from all over the world.

 
Line-up

The line-up includes Grada, Lau, Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara, Portico Quartet, Skip McDonald, Dennis Bovell Dub Band, Joscho Stephan Trio, Cimaron, Sierra Maestra and many more. With music ranging from Irish Traditional, Blues, Jazz, Gipsy Swing and Dub to a nine-piece son band from Havana.

The 10th Swanage Blues festival '10
 

Date: Friday 5th - Sunday 7th March 10

 

Location: Various venues, Swanage, Dorset

 

This free festival features several different gigs with acclaimed national and international blues musicians playing at a variety of venues around the picturesque seaside town of Swanage, on the South West coast of England. The event takes place from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th March 2010.

 

All sorts of styles are represented such as acoustic, electric, rural and urban blues.

The full line- up includes Back Porch Band, Blue Touch, Buddy's Blues Band, C Sharp Blues, Chicago 9, Coalhouse Walker Blues Band, Confused Blues, Electric Rhythm Riders, Fabulous Fezheads, John Crampton, JC & Angelina Grimshaw, Jack Blackman, Jon Walsh Blues Band, Kevin Brown, Motel 6, Pete Harris, Robin Bibi Band, Steve Darrington, The Jawbreakers, The Mustangs, The Rhythm 'n' Blues Brothers, The Riotous Brothers, The Riverside Blues Band, Saiichi Sugiyama Band, and Will Killeen, with still more to come!

 

Organisers hope to have Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones) play in Swanage on Thursday 4 March 2010 as part of the ABCD of Boogie, with Axel Zwingenburger (German concert pianist); Ben Waters (boogie woogie pianist, Weymouth-born and Owermoigne resident); and Dave Green (Jools Holland's double bass player).

 

Expect around 40 gigs in 15 indoor venues, all with free admission. There are open mic sessions every afternoon and usually a Blues Steam Train ride plus dancers, street musicians, jam sessions (Saturday and Sunday), buskers, Gospel Service, and workshops.

Vibraphonic Festival '10
 

Date: Friday 5th - Sunday 21st March 10

 

Location: Various venues across Exeter, Devon

 

A festival of reggae, soul, urban, jazz, funk, blues, hip hop, drum & bass, electronica and experimental music happening across the city of Exeter.

 

The Vibraphonic Festival takes place from Friday 5th until Sunday 21st March 2010. It is an annual occasion with events taking place across Exeter around twenty venues including the Exeter Phoenix, the Cavern, Barnfield, The Hub, The Globe, Timepiece, and Exeter University's Lemon Grove.

 

A wide variety of artists and DJs are expected and there are also workshops, demonstrations, dance performances, films and graffiti art.

Events already lined up include Pete Canter, Inspirational Women's Voices (to celebrate International Women's Day), Sierra Maestra, Dhafer Youssef, Johnny Winter, Synchronicity and Neil Cowley Trio.

BLOC weekend '10
 

Date: Friday 12th - Sunday 14th March 10

 

Location: Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset

 

One of the leading indoor underground music events BLOC weekend is three days of independent electronic music, held once again at Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset from Friday 12 to Sunday 14th March 2010.

 
Line-up

The event promises a more powerful line-up with something like 60+ international acts. Confirmed acts include Salt N Pepa, Grandmaster Flash, Mixmaster Mike, Adam Beyer, Skream B2B Benga, Luke Vibert, Congo Natty aka Rebel MC, MJ Cole, Kode 9, Roots Manuva, Autechre, Ms Dynamite, Wiley, Derrick May, Luke Slater, Lindstrom, Anti-Pop Consortium, Surgeon, Nathan Fake, Joker, Mark Ernestus feat. Tiki Man (Rhythm & Sound), and more.

 

There will be two stages plus a pub stage, an Un:BLOC stage offering a range of non-electronic acts, and an interactive arts arena.

Oxford Jazz Festival '10

Location: Various venues in Oxford, Oxfordshire

 

The second Oxford Jazz Festival will take place over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday 1st until Sunday 4th April with acclaimed jazz artists performing in some of Oxford's finest and most historic venues.

Playaway '10
 

Date: Friday 16th - Sunday 18th April 10

 

Location: Butlins Resort, Skegness, Lincolnshire

 

Playway is a new seaside themed music festival held for the first time from Friday 16th until Sunday 18th April, at Butlins Resort, in Skegness.

The line-up includes Calvin Harris, Scouting For Girls, Noisettes, I Blame Coco (aka. Coco Sumner aka. Sting's daughter), Tiffany Page, Chase and Status (DJ Set), Sub Focus, MCs Rage and I.D, Plan B, Example, Daisy Dares You, Rox, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Darwin Deez, Alan Pownall, General Fiasco, Smash n Grab residents, and Queens of Noize. Bang Face - The Weekender '10
 

Date: Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th April 10

 

Location: Camber Sands Holiday Centre, New Lydd Road, Camber Sands, Nr. Rye, Sussex

 

Bang Face returns for a third year to the Sussex coast for a weekend of raving by the seaside. Held at Camber Sands Holiday Centre, East Sussex, the weekender runs from Friday 23rd April until Sunday 25th April 2010.

 

This is a festival for fun-loving fans of dance music, especially those who missed out on the glory days of rave first time around. Musically, Bang Face The Weekender will encompass Acid, Jungle, Rave, Drum & Bass, Breakcore, Techno, Electro, Breakcore, Dubstep and Electronica as well as chilled music. Music will start in the main rooms from early afternoon and run through until dawn whilst the pub will stay open all the time. There will also plenty of other activities happening over the weekend and a fancy dress vibe. All chalets have TVs with the Bang Face TV channel broadcast over the whole weekend!

Cheltenham Jazz Festival '10
 

Date: Wednesday 28th April - Monday 3rd May 10

 

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

 

Cheltenham Jazz Festival features big international names alongside the best of British talent, with up to 17,000 festival-goers attending a wide variety of performances across five days. The festival will run from Wednesday 28th April until Monday 3rd May 2010.

 

The diverse programme is accessible through various routes, from performances at the the Town Hall and at the Everyman Theatre, and other venues, to education projects, or live jazz and fine food at restaurants plus a buzzing fringe in bars and clubs around town.

 
Line-up

The first four acts to be confirmed are Eric Bibb, Carla Bley, Trio VD and Empirical. The full line-up of acts has not been confirmed yet for 2010.

 

Jamie Cullum has been announced as the Guest Director for the 2010 Jazz Festival. Comedian Stewart Lee will be exploring the world of improvised jazz at this year's event. The festival will be showcasing rising talent from Norway (Farmers Market, and Beady Belle) and working on an education exchange with the Trondheim Conservatory and Birmingham Conservatoire.

City Showcase '10
 

Date: Wednesday 5th - Saturday 8th May 10

 

Location: Various venues in London's West End

 

City Showcase the London based music event, expands to four days to showcase emerging talent in gigs that are all FREE and not for profit. This year will see the event happen from Wednesday 5th until Saturday 8th May.

 

Each day there are gigs in stores and café in Carnaby Street and Regent Street.

Southport Weekender '10
 

Date: Friday 7th - Sunday 9th May 10

 

Location: Pontins Holiday Centre, Ainsdale Beach, Shore Road, Southport, Lancashire PR8 2PZ

 

With a full line-up of DJs and live performances, there are 4 different arenas where weekenders can enjoy an eclectic mix of House, R'n'B, Soul, Breakbeats, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and Garage music.

 

This is the 46th Southport Weekender taking place from Friday 7th until Sunday 9th May 2010. For the foreseeable future The Southport Weekenders will now be an annual event taking place each May.

The Great Escape '10
 

Date: Thursday 13th - Saturday 15th May 10

 

Location: Venues in Brighton, East Sussex

 

The Great Escape features hundreds of international and UK pop, cutting edge, hip hop, electronic, and rock acts showcased at venues all over Brighton.

 

The dates for 2010 are confirmed as Thursday 13th until Saturday 15th May 2010.

 
Line-up

No acts are confirmed as yet. This year's partner country has been confirmed and will be Australia, so expect a host of Antipodean acts to join up with over 350 bands performing in over 30 venues spread across Brighton over the course of three days.

 

The line-up will include over 300 acts from around the globe in around 30 venues within Brighton City Centre. The venues are all a close walk from each other with each venue equipped to an international showcase standard.

 

As well as the live music, there's also a number of "Parkinson" style interviews with luminaries from the world of Music and Media, to show the way in which success is achieved, as well as educational panels, workshops and networking sessions confirmed.

All Tomorrows Parties Weekend 2 will be held from Friday 14th May until Sunday 16th May 2010 at Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset. ATP is a sponsorship free festival where the organisers and artists stay in the same accommodation as the fans.

Nice & Sleazy Festival '10

Location: Trimpell Sports and Social Club, Out Moss Lane, Morecombe, Lancashire

 

The dates for the 5th Nice 'n' Sleazy festival, being held in Morecambe, are confirmed for the May Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 28th to Sunday 30th May 2010.

 

This small, friendly, maximum punk/ska/new wave festival is based at the Trimpell Sports and Social Club, and at several other venues.

The confirmed acts for 2010 are Eddie & The Hotrods, Goldblade, Straighten Out, Blitzkrieg, Keyside Strike, Pistola Kicks, The Red Eyes, True Beat, Complete Control, First Time Riot, The Snipes, Psycho Circus, Last Gang In Town, Geoffrey Oi! Off The Tracks - Spring Festival '10

Location: Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel, Isley Walton, Donington, Leicestershire

 

A friendly festival offering an eclectic mix of global, roots, trance, dance and fusion. There are two stages, acoustic sessions, stalls, 45 real ales, good food and camping with hot showers also available. The festival takes place from Friday 28th until Sunday 30th May 2010.

Run to the Sun '10
 

Date: Friday 28th - Monday 31st May 10

Location: Trevelgue Holiday Park, Porth, Newquay, Cornwall TR8 4AS

 

Run to the Sun (RttS) held it's first event way back in 1987 and has grown into one of the largest Custom Car, VW and dance festivals in Europe since its conception.

 

The dates for 2010 are confirmed as Friday 28th to Monday 31st May.

 
Line-up

The line-up for the main stage includes Sub Focus featuring MC Jakes, DJ Hype + Daddy Earl, Freestylers, Eddy Temple Morris, Stereo:Type, Matrix And Futurebound, Lisa Lashes, Darren Styles, Anne Savage, Kutski, BK, Bootek, Scott Attrill, Tidy DJs, Kidd Kaos, Micky Slim, Fran Cosgrave, and Rob Tissera. There will be music across five arenas including the new Morph Tent in the Festival Village.

 

Held in Newquay, Cornwall's surf and party capital, RttS is three days of DJ's, live music, comedy and acoustic sessions. With 5 Arenas and some of the biggest DJ names in the world, RttS 2010 is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Meadowlands '10

Location: Glynde Place, Glyne, East Sussex

 

Meadowlands is a new two day music and arts festival set in the heart of the Sussex. Located at Glynde Place, Glyne, in East Sussex on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th May 2010. The event hopes to offer a diverse selection of performers, musicians and DJ's over the May bank holiday.

Evolution Music Festival '10
 

Date: Sunday 30th - Monday 31st May 10

 

Location: Spillers Wharf, Gateshead Quays, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear

 

Evolution Music Festival return over two days again, with a crowd of 60,000 expected over the weekend and culminating in the outdoor shows at Spiller's Wharf and Baltic Square on the Gateshead quayside on the Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May 2010.

 

With the outdoor event having two stages and an unsigned stage, along the quay, the Evolution festival is expected to host a wide spectrum of music, taking the festival goer from jazz to punk, from reggae to folk.
